Sharon Gale George was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She spent her early childhood on the family farm nestled among the hills and coulees of Vernon County. At the age of five her family moved to Milwaukee where she attended public school and on graduating enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she majored in English and minored in Dance and Music. Encouraged by her ballet instructor and mentor, she changed her major to Dance and danced with the Florentine Opera Company for several seasons.

The tragic loss of her mentor changed her course. She abandoned Dance and English, and to everyone’s surprise, declared Music her major. That is until she answered an essay question in a “blue book” exam and her history professor wanted to know where she had learned to write. And then she wrote a critique on a Mozart Concerto for Clarinet and Oboe and her Music professor wanted to know the same thing– visibly relieved she had other talents. “Not that he was suggesting anything,” he said. “But she might want to at least consider giving up the violin.”

The writing on the wall, she shuffled back to English.

Two novels and many short stories later, she came to the conclusion that it was important to eat. She returned to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, practicing as a Registered Nurse as she continued to write. Currently, she is a Medical Writer. She lives with her husband on a small farm in Minnesota.
